Obtaining micro-tubes of carbon and activated carbon micro-tubes from eucalyptus tar pitch involves preparing coarse vegetal pitch by digestion with solution of water-alcohol

NOVELTY – Obtaining micro-tubes of carbon and activated carbon micro-tubes from eucalyptus tar pitch involves preparing coarse vegetal pitch by means of digestion with a solution of water-alcohol (40-60). This is followed by dry filtration at 100degreesC for 2 hr. The pitch fiber is then subjected to continuous spinning at 217-219degreesC. USE – For obtaining micro-tubes of carbon and activated carbon micro-tubes from eucalyptus tar pitch. ADVANTAGE – Carbon fibers are obtained with cylindrical cavities concentric to the axis of the fiber, along its longitudinal extension. Due to this characteristic, the fiber are denominated a carbon micro-tubes. DETAILED DESCRIPTION – Preferred Features: Continuous spinning involves using a centrifuge with an orifice of 0.45 mm, revolving at 100 to 150 m/min. This is followed by heat treatment for stabilization at 80degreesC for 4 hr, 120degreesC for 4 hr, and 270 degreesC for 4 hr in air atmosphere, and carbonization at 700-900degreesC in a flow of nitrogen.

Main Application Field
